  in most child sexual abuse cases the abuser is someone the child knows and trusts relatives, neighbors, coaches, teachers, ministers.

  and, incredibly, in too many of these cases, the abuse was preventable because the abuser was known by others to have molested before, but that fact was not known to those who could have protected the child.. in 1994, both megan and candace were sexually abused and megan died at the hands of convicted pedophile, jesse timmendequas, who was a known child molester.

  It is a serious matter to represent God and Christ in one way, then find that our understanding of the major teachings and fundamental doctrines of the Scriptures was in error, and then after that, to go back to the very doctrines that, by years of study, we had thoroughly determined to be in error. Christians cannot be vacillating—‘wishy-washy’—about such fundamental teachings. What confidence can one put in the sincerity or judgment of such persons?

  Par 14 shows just how far behind the times the JWs are.

  ‘In recent years the faithful slave has particularly promoted the weekly Family Worship evening.’

  Family Worship night is a relatively new term with WT. Shouldn’t they have been doing this all along? Jehovah’s Witnesses have been around for 130+ years. Yet WT admits that it has not in past years promoted enough family worship. Could that be a reason why JWs today have a high incident of family problems and low retention rate?

  now that the "faithful & discreet slave class" has become essentially the governing body since 1919, almost every publication is obsolete and useless!

  (i know, they are useless)..... the fds doctrine is a core teaching unique to jehovah's witnesses and now i believe they will have to change all of their understandings that are recorded in the revelation climax book, ezekiel books---every prophetic book written by the society!.

  WT at the annual meeting said C.T. Russell was not part of FDS. However, as recent as 1995 in print it states otherwise:

  Judging by the results, there can be no doubt that Jehovah’s holy spirit was directing the endeavors of Brother Russell and those associated with him. They gave evidence of being identified with the faithful and discreet slave. Though many clergymen of the time professed to believe that the Bible was God’s inspired Word and that Jesus was the Son of God, they subscribed to false, Babylonish doctrines, such as the Trinity, the immortality of the human soul, and eternal torment. In keeping with Jesus’ promise, it truly was due to the holy spirit that the humble efforts of Brother Russell and his associates caused truth to shine forth as never before. (John 16:13) Those anointed Bible Students gave proof that they were indeed part of the faithful and discreet slave class, whose commission it is to provide spiritual food for the Master’s domestics. Their efforts were a great aid in the gathering of the anointed ones. W 5/15/95 pg17 par7

  Do JWs really notice significant doctrinal change?

  all of these threads about the 'new light' regarding the fds has got me wondering.

  as ex-jws, we've trained ourselves to notice such things.

  we tend to treat them as if they're of great significance, even convey a certain level of optimism that it will actually wake some up, make some think, even lead to some sort of mass revolution within the ranks.. do rank-and-file jws really see any significance, or is it just wishful thinking?

  Don’t forget that we are living in the ‘information age’. Today, news travels and it travels way faster that it did 15-20 years ago. At a click of a button and wallah you have dirty laundry about an individual, business and yes even a religious institution. WT has its’ share of dirty laundry as we all know. Little do the 8 GB know but they just volunteered a great deal more of their dirty laundry to the masses at their annual meeting. In the right hands this dirty laundry can and will cause some real damage to this counterfeit organization!

  i've been thinking a lot about the new faithful and discreet slave understanding.. first of all, i regard the faithful and discreet slave doctrine to be the core doctrine of jehovah's witnesses.

  without a single charismatic leader like other cults, the watchtower society needed to have something to keep the rank and file in line.

  the fds doctrine was mysterious and served to give the organisation a leadership structure that appeared to be directly connected to god.

  Many reasons for JWs to get rattled:

  · WT’s inconsistencies of the Blood Doctrine

  · WT’s hateful disfellowshipping and shunning policy

  · WT’s protection of pedophiles and child molesters

  · WT’s change to over-lapping generation

  · WT’s change in the FDS doctrine

  · WT’s throwing C.T. Russell and his associates under the bus (who’s next)

  · WT’s continuous solicitation for more money

  · WT’s repeatedly putting down higher education

  · WT’s mistreatment of women (this Sunday WT Study par 8 suggests sisters’ dress is to blame for brothers’ horny thoughts-our COBE literally said that)
